John G. Cox

John directs the daily operations of Coal Creek Iron Works, Inc (CCIW). John learned metal and wood working at an early age through his father, Gordon. As a hobby, Gordon enjoyed spending his spare time in his garage working on a variety of projects. These projects ranged from building wood cabinets to industrial type steel work tables to steel Christmas tree stands. John earned an appreciation for metal and wood working alongside his dad.

In 2001, John decided to take his particular enjoyment of metal working to another level by enrolling at the Tennessee Technology School in Jacksboro, TN. John studied welding, machining, cutting and forming of metal materials and earned certifications for working with steel, aluminum and stainless steel. In 2005, John decided to use his metal working skills to start his own company, Cox Brothers Fabrications, Inc (CBF). The company started with a primary focus on providing turn-key type packages for steel handrails and decorative metal fencing. CBF provided all materials, fabrication and installation services for their clients. John enjoyed having complete control of the quality and craftsmanship of not only the shop fabrication, but also the field installation and finished product. To maximize his ability to work in the field, John customized his own fully equipped enclosed welding trailer. This trailer enabled John to field install all his products and be available for on-site field welding services.

In January 2011, John changed the company name from Cox Brothers Fabrications to Coal Creek Iron Works. The name Coal Creek would pay homage to the East Tennessee city he grew up in, Lake City, which was originally named Coal Creek, but became Rocky Top in 2014. In March 2012, a company website was launched to showcase his company and the unique craftsmanship of his work. Since starting the company in 2005, John’s dedication to hard work has helped business steadily grow each year. John is looking forward to the future of Coal Creek Iron Works, Inc.

In 2009, John married Leah Resseguie from Lenoir City. They welcomed their son, Weston into the family in 2015. They reside in Knoxville, TN and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and camping as well as taking part in mission work.
